Sarah Rakes was born July 20, 1955 in Bentonville, Arkansas.
When Sarah was eight years old, the Nelson Rockefeller Artmobile visited her school in rural Arkansas and she was given her first exposure to art. From that point on, she knew she wanted to be an artist. Now residing in the North Georgia mountains, Rakes is inspired by nature and her rural surroundings. She combines innocent images of plants and animals with intricate patterns, and her paintings vibrate with intense colors. Adding her own painted frame has become an integral part of the work.
Sarah is represented by galleries in many parts of the country. Her work is included in many private and corporate collections.
