… was born May 15, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN. He received a BA from Montana State
and an MFA from the NY State College of Ceramics in Alfred, NY.
John began working with clay in college but switched to industrial glassmaking as a career after he graduated. He also taught at the university level in the USA as well as in Canada but in 2007, he sold his glassmaking equipment and returned to ceramics. Today, John enjoys being self-employed. He produces his art from his studio in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
As an artist, John has won many prestigious awards including a National Endowment for the Arts Craftsmen’s Fellowship Grant in 1981. His work is in many private and corporate collections.
