Oakland Pottery features the work of a Bulgarian artist, Danko. His grandmother was a potter and inspired him to start working with ceramics at a young age. After attending an art academy in the 1990’s, Danko traveled to Prague. There, he was fascinated by the designs and colors artists were using, and when
he returned to Bulgaria, he began making pottery with bold, colorful designs. His pieces borrow from old world forms, but his interpretations have given them contemporary styling.
His pieces are functional as well as sculptural. They are expressive, whimsical and truly unique. Each bears the artist’s stamp.
