Spring Brings New Life

Despite some on-going cold spells, Spring has arrived in the mountains of north Georgia. Trees are greening and flowers are blooming.  In that spirit of seasonal “newness”,  Main Street Gallery offers its 2013 schedule of Spring, Summer, and Fall monthly exhibits.  We have some wonderful shows lined up!  Please visit our exhibition page for a complete list.Opening June 1, our first exhibition features the work of J. T. McCord.  Jake was known for his front-porch “exhibits.”  He would hang up his large scale paintings  on the side of his home and then relax on the front porch enjoying his “showcase.” This Georgia native passed away in 2009 and the paintings for sale have been selected from a private collection that was assembled throughout Jake’s painting career.

New work is on display throughout the gallery. We have a wide selection of Kudzu and Wisteria baskets by Andrew McCall, and lots of new, whimsical paper mache sculptures by Carol Roll.  Bob and Kathy Kimmel have been busy carving and painting, and have returned to the mountains with new work for us.

For Father’s Day

We have beautiful and functional gifts for Father’s Day from a wood turner new to the gallery; Anna Ruggiero runs a small woodworking shop in South Carolina and is committed to using ecologically friendly practices. Imported hardwoods are all from Certified Sustainable sources. Domestic hardwoods are purchased through small, family owned US-based businesses. We are pleased to carry her pens, shaving brushes and “manly” tools.
