Rosemary Otto

Rosemary Otto folk artistOriginally from Germany, Rosemary Otto lives in her great-grandmother’s house in Florida.

She remembers the box of crayons that sparked her interest in art as a child and her mother’s influence.  She says her work is a form of creative expression and has helped her manage her schizophrenia which she was diagnosed with at age 19.

Rosemary Otto’s world is a universe of metaphor and fantasy where deer/dear people sprout antlers, fly through surrealist landscapes and find themselves as naked as Adam and Eve entwined in the bare branches of trees.

Her small oil collages are fanciful. “People say I have a good imagination, but this artwork seems to me to be paintings or drawings as a child would make them naturally.” – Excerpted from an article written by Myles Ludwig
