Jennifer Ferris

Photo of Jennifer FerrisJennifer Drummond Ferris is a lifelong artist who was raised by an artist mom, Faye Smith Drummond, and a poet dad, Clarence Drummond.  While life has taken her on various paths, she has been painting regularly for the past 25+ years. She shows her work at several galleries and exhibitions throughout the Southeast and draws collectors from Florida to North Carolina to Texas.

Jennifer’s formal education is in engineering, rather than art, but she has studied painting with a long list of highly talented artists,
giving her a solid education in painting. Her engineering background and interest in photography continue to influence Jennifer’s body of
work. She now shares her painting knowledge with other artists while teaching classes and workshops.

Ferris started painting in oils in a fairly traditional style but switched to acrylics and mixed media for the freedom and variety of techniques
offered by those mediums. Over time, these techniques transformed her work into a more contemporary and abstract style. She is best
known for her series of realistic birds on fanciful backgrounds. Additional series include dynamic seaside cityscapes based on her travels to the Greek Islands, floral landscapes featuring Jennifer’s own black & white print designs of butterflies, and non-representational works in her signature bright, happy color palette.

In April 2022, Jennifer had her largest show to date, presenting over 70 paintings in her solo exhibition, “Dancing in the Rain”, at The Quinlan
Art Center, in Gainesville, GA.
