Rosemary Otto
Originally from Germany, Rosemary Otto lived in her great-grandmother’s house in Florida.
She always remembered her mother’s artistic influence and the box of crayons that sparked her interest in art as a child. Rosemary was diagnosed with schizophrenia at age 19. She believed the creative expression in her work helped her manage her illness.
“Rosemary Otto’s world was a universe of metaphor and fantasy where deer/dear people sprouted antlers, flew through surrealist landscapes and found themselves as naked as Adam and Eve entwined in the bare branches of trees. Her small oil collages were fanciful. “People say I have a good imagination, but this artwork seems to me to be paintings or drawings as a child would make them naturally.” – Excerpted from an article written by Myles Ludwig
We regret to report that Rosemary passed away March 9, 2025 in Palm Beach County, FL.
